Chesham Bois Pond
The small pond is on the edge of Chesham Bois common and is home to newts and frogs. The common has an open area in the centre, with a cricket pitch, surrounded by mixed woodland on all sides. The grassy area beyond the pond leads south to this open space. For the origin of the pond see Image

Glebe Way, Chesham Bois
Glebe Way in Chesham Bois. The sign indicates that this is a route for large goods vehicles, to reach Chesham avoiding a weight restriction. The small blue sign shows that this road is also part of a network of cycle routes.

Chesham Bois: The War Memorial
The memorial, which is of a rather unusual design, is at the north eastern end of Chesham Bois Common. Some yew trees have recently been planted to provide a backdrop. To the right is North Road.

South Road, Amersham
Running along the south side of Chesham Bois Common, South Road is in Amersham. It would be a rather rural roadscape if it was not for all the parked cars.

Chesham Bois Common
The open area in the centre of the common is surrounded by mixed woodland. This strip, adjacent to North Road, has several dips (the result of old clay digging perhaps?) which are fun for cycling but slightly tame for tobogganing.

Chesham Bois: Bricky Pond
Thought to have originally been a clay pit for use in the manufacture of bricks, it dates back to at least 1735 as it was recorded on a 1736 map, but not on one produced in 1716. It is on the north side of Chesham Bois Common by North Road, and was restored during 1996/7 by the Chesham Bois Restoration Group. It is fed by surface water and it is probable that its reduction in size compared to its extents shown in older photographs is due to a drop in the general level of the water table caused by generally dwindling amounts of rainfall and the encroachment of trees around its edges taking up the water.
