I remember regularly driving along here before it was bypassed by the new dual carriageway, this was the A41 and is now the A4251, approaching Hemel Hempstead Station.

Boxmoor: The former Swan Inn
This public house on London Road survived to about 2010 before succumbing to the fall-off in pub trade. It has been an antiques shop since 2011 and the shop's website is here http://www.swanantiquesboxmoor.com/ The building dates back to 1690 and is Grade II Listed. The English Heritage website describes it thus:- "C18. Painted brick and stucco, old tiled hipped roof with eaves cornice. L plan, 2 storeys. 3 light casement window and canted sashed bay on left, small similar bay to projecting wing on right. Wooden porch in angle. Sash window to 1st floor on right. Boxmoor: London Road railway bridge
This fine skew bridge carries the West Coast Main Line over the A4251 London Road, formerly the A41. The height restriction between the vertical white lines is 16' 0" or 4.87 metres. There are actually three bridges here. The near one is the original. The middle one was built when the railway was widened, and the far one is the A41 Bypass bridge.
