Bledlow Methodist Church
The church is actually in the hamlet of Pitch Green in Bledlow, down Chapel Lane, and commenced life as the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in 1869, as evidenced by the tablet above the higher windows in the right side gable. I am guessing here but I suspect that the part of the building with the gable on the left side, without a high window, is a later addition with the names of the subscribers cast into the buff coloured stonework. Names visible include Mabel J Musson, Mrs E Grange, E., Ernest and Lizzie Thompson, Marjorie Purser, W & M Burnham, Elsie Folley, George Austin, Edwin Gomme, and Rupert Thompson. There are also a lot of stones and bricks with carved initials. A quick glance at FreeBMD shows an Elsie Folley born in the Wycombe Registration District in 1880, and a Mabel Jane Musson born in the Thame Registration District in 1883. Maybe these were two of the ladies.
