Princes Risborough railway station (2)
Viewed looking in the "up" direction from the footbridge, Chiltern Railways have a weekday off-peak three trains an hour with an approximate scheduled journey time of 50 minutes to London Marylebone from here.

Something on the rusty siding
These rusty tracks at the south end of Princes Risborough station don't appear to get used much. There's something parked there today, for a change.

Princes Risborough railway station (4)
Platform 1 seen here hosts the shuttle train to / from Aylesbury. The other side of this platform (Platform 2) serves "up" trains to London. Within certain time limitations the shuttle train can be held to await late-running trains from London if needed, although London-bound trains do not wait if the shuttle is delayed. I am always mystified by the motley collection of spare rails that lie around the railway system, and there are plenty on view here. Are they old rails awaiting a scrap collection, or new rails awaiting installation?

The station was opened in 1862 by the Great Western Railway. The view from the station forecourt is partially obstructed by a couple of Network Rail vans on Sunday maintenance duties.

Princes Risborough railway station (1)
The wide open spaces of the station are viewed here from the footbridge. I am speculating here but I guess that the platform on the right, which is the up platform for trains to London, is original. Going from right to left, there then appears to have been a pair of fast through lines, the up line of which has been removed, and the original down fast line of which now serves the much newer down platform on the left.
