Smock Mill, Lacey Green
So called because it resembles a bloke in a smock (a little imagination required, I think), the mill has recently been restored by the Chiltern Society. It used to be sited in Chesham but was relocated to this windier hilltop location.

Lacey Green Windmill
This is a smock mill with fantail winding and four common sails, although at one point it had a pair of patent sails. The date is uncertain although the machinery could be as old as 1650. There is an unsubstantiated claim it was moved here in 1821. The mill has been well restored and stabilised but is no longer capable of turning or milling.

Guide wheels inside the cap at Lacey Green Mill
The cap supports the sails and windshaft and can be rotated into the wind. These wheels transfer the substantial loads from the windshaft to the timber clad smock body of the mill. The mill was open for National Mills Weekend 2017.
