A view across the fields to the Chiltern Hills
Autumn is coming and the trees are beginning to go brown. The field has recently been seeded with next year's crop and the shoots are just beginning to give it a tinge of green. On the far side of the field there is an area planted with sweetcorn.

Painesend, near Tring
A narrow country lane through Painesend near Tring. The buildings are part of Painesend Farm. In the opposite direction the lane continues to Hanghill where it comes to an abrupt dead end, though a track continues and various footpaths strike off to left and right. Alternative spellings for this place are Paine's End and Painsend

Painsend Farm
This farm is near the end of a dead-end lane with lovely views across wooded countryside towards Tring. On the map this farm is shown as Painsend, alternative spellings are Paine's End and Painesend. [Edit Jan 2012] I am reliably informed that this fine old building has been demolished and replaced with something "grander" - pity. See Image]
