Keepers Lodge
On the A4251 which is the old A41 and before that, Akeman Street (Roman Road). The current A41 is a motorway in all but name and the old road snakes to the east and west of it in this gap through the Chilterns.

Field of poppies
I first noticed this bright splash of red as I drove past on the A41 dual carriageway about a week ago and had been intending to take a few photos of it; but then at the weekend the heavens opened and many of the flowers were denuded of their petals. However, by today, Tuesday, they were back in their scarlet glory. Fortunately there is a lay-by which allowed me to pull up to take this shot. For a closer (zoomed) view see Image]

Poppies near Keeper's Lodge, Tring
A splash of scarlet in fields next to Keepers Lodge along the A4251 as viewed from a lay-by on the A41 bypass. The field poppy (Papaver rhoeas) grows in abundance in many fields in the area transforming them into scarlet carpets for a few weeks. To see a wider angle view of the same poppies see Image]
