Ruins and new life
This is a landscape that will soon change for ever. The signs outside declare that this former research site has been acquired for development. The tumbledown green sheds are remnants of this research site which I am informed covered 14.4ha (35.5 acres) and still contains numerous other buildings such as about 10 - 15 other sheds, a toilet block, a caretaker's house complete with stables, outdoor loo and summer house. Apparently there's also a small grain silo and some minor office sheds. (Thanks to "Harry" for the information on the extent of the remains). The flora here is quite stunning - I wonder how much will survive the redevelopment.

Derelict Research Site
These decaying green sheds are what remain of a research site in North Lee, Terrick. Soon they will be gone as the site has been acquired for redevelopment. If anyone knows what was researched here - or better still worked here - I'd be fascinated to find out.

Where the bee sucks ...
A bumble bee gathers nectar from flowers (almost certainly comfrey*) in the grounds of the former research site at North Lee, Terrick. *This info. from Penny Mayes http://www.geograph.org.uk/profile.php?u=93 Possibly a comfrey although the leaves look a bit round... http://www.wildflowersofstrathclydepark.org.uk/Comfrey.htm http://www.allnatural.net/herbpages/comfrey.shtml The flowers can be white pink or blue - sometimes all three on the same plant. Lovely stuff - hens like to eat it and it makes an excellent liquid compost if you just pile it into a bucket. Also known as knit-bone.

Flowers amid the dereliction
These bell-like blue flowers in the grounds of the former research site at North Lee, Terrick are almost certainly comfrey - see note below. Primroses and old sheds
Quietly collapsing, nature is gradually reclaiming these old sheds. I think that these primroses may have been planted intentionally however when these old green sheds were still in use as a research facility. Perhaps they were part of a flower border at the entrance. Soon all this will be gone however, as the site has been acquired for development.
