The old track becomes a holloway
As the track proceeds up the hill it becomes more deeply incised to the point where it can clearly be described as a holloway, although it is far less deep than many that lie on the steeper parts of the Chiltern escarpment. See Image

The quarry in Cobblers Pits
To the east of the track, about half way up the hill, there is a comparatively large quarry. As the picture shows, the vegetation is so thick that it is very hard to see – and is best left as an undisturbed nature reserve. See Image

A stand of young ash trees in Cobblers Pits, Aston Clinton
While there is a good stands of yew at the bottom (north end) and another at the top (south end) the middle of the reserve is mainly mixed woodland with the occasional yew tree. What the distribution of tree species were before the storm damage is not obvious. See Image

A Fallen Giant in Cobblers Pits
With a hard wood, such as yew, I would have expected far more evidence of fallen trees if they had been left to decay. Their absence suggests most of the trees blown down in the storm have been harvested. See Image
