The Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal
This view of the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal, which was completed in 1815, was taken from the A4157 road bridge. Bear Brook can be seen on the right hand side of the photograph running parallel with the canal. The bridge in the distance is an agricultural bridge (No 16) Beyond it is the Broughton Lane bridge, No 15. Both bridges are marked on the map and are of the standard "Aylesbury Arm" design. I am indebted to Chris Reynolds for the information about the bridges.

Grand Union Canal: Aylesbury Arm: Bridge No 16A
Bridge No 16A carries the A4157 Oakfield Road over the canal. As the suffix suggests there was never a bridge here when the canal was built and an intermediate number in the system had to be introduced.

Two new villages in Aylesbury
The green field site is still clear and growing thick. The signs have been up since 2016 so probably no longer active, the example house looks like a 17th century working man's cottage.
