Great Missenden: Missenden Abbey
This is the southern façade of the abbey taken from the park.
The Abbey is Grade II Listed and the Historic England website describes it as "a former country house incorporating the fabric of an Augustinian abbey plus late phases of remodelling; now in use as a management & adult education centre."
Wikipedia states that "the building was designated Grade II listed on 10 March 1983. However, in 1985 the building was destroyed by fire. The house was "gutted". Among that destroyed was the "15th or 16th century roof of the East range", which was "a rare survival of a monastic roof". The building was reconstructed following the fire, with some of the interiors remodelled.
The abbey has been owned by Buckinghamshire New University since the mid-1990s. It is now used as a conference centre and also used for weddings."

Go kart coming downhill in Great Missenden
This lad and his sister are the proud owners of this go-kart or bogey which they told me they were given by a neighbour, if I recall correctly, who had it laying unused in his shed, and gave it to them to give it a new lease of life.
I haven't seen this sort of vehicle in 30+ years, maybe longer. They even have a Wikepedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_racer
Furthermore people are still building them! http://www.oilyhands.co.uk/homemade_gocart_dilly_trolley.htm

Missenden Abbey
Missenden Abbey was an Augustinian monastery founded in 1133 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. It was ruined in the Dissolution of the Monasteries and the ruins later incorporated into a Georgian mansion.
This view is from a good few years ago, taken across Warren Water, the ornamental lake created on the River Misbourne.
