Old Milestone by the A40, north of Loudwater
Carved stone post by the A40, in parish of High Wycombe (Wycombe District), London Road; King's Mead, East of town, was beside Halfway House PH (since demolished 2011), in pavement in front of wooden fence to right of PH; beside manhole cover, on South side of road. Beaconsfield diamond pillar, erected by the Beaconsfield & Stokenchurch turnpike trust in the 18th century.
Inscription reads:-

Carved benchmark front lower.
Grade II listed.

Telephone Repeater Station, King's Mead (2)
This photo shows what maybe a telephone repeater station in Gomm Road with the houses on the A40 London Road behind it. There is a BT warning notice on that building so it may still be in use by that company.
