The peloton whizzes by
After some 3 hours of waiting at the roadside, the main field of the Tour de France [the peloton] whizzes by in a few seconds. Sadly this was not to be Mark Cavendish's day or Chris Froome's tour.

The caravane passes by
A 'Welcome to Yorkshire' publicity vehicle passes by as part of the 'caravane' an hour or so before the Tour de France cyclists on stage 1 of the 2014 tour.

French police motor cyclist on the A61
'Je suis officier desole, je ne savais pas que j'etais exces de vitesse.' [or words to that effect]. An unusual sight to see several French 'Gendarmerie' officers on UK roads. All part of the Tour de France.

Sanctuary marker stone
Close to the by pass, this modern stone marks the site of a former sanctuary stone at a distance of a league from Ripon Minster. The only original stone is at Sharow in SE3271 and was in use for some 600 years from the tenth century.

Still over two hours to wait for 'Le Tour'
The A61 Ripon by pass some 2 hours before the arrival of the Tour de France riders. Still a fairly thin crowd at this point and plenty of time for some to chalk messages on the tarmac.
