This was probably set up soon after the formation of Urban District Councils in 1894. Netherthong UDC lasted only until 1912, when it became part of Holmfirth UDC.

Greave Road, Wilshaw, Meltham
This road seems to be called Wilshaw Road now. At the top of the hill there is a junction with Bradshaw Road, and here is the boundary with Netherthong. The hill is Swinney Knoll (309m).
