Clayton West station, Yorkshire
I well remember taking this photograph, for it was pouring with rain and it was a case of rushing out of the station, taking the photograph, and rushing back and hoping the camera had not got too wet. The Clayton West line was closed soon afterwards and was replaced by a miniature railway: all very well, but it did not go to Huddersfield.

Kirklees light Railway - Badger
This 15" gauge railway is on a former standard gauge branch line. The locomotive is Badger. This is an 0-6-4ST built by Brian Taylor in 1991. It appeared to be acting as a spare in case of a problem with Katie and Sian that were scheduled to haul all the weekend's trains.

In its dying days as a somewhat moribund British Rail branch a train to Huddersfield awaits departure from Clayton West. The branch survived until the coal mine which adjoined the station was worked out.
