100 yds N of junction with Far Dean, signed Highburton. Located on the West side of road, on narrow verge, next to concrete fence between LP100 and 101. Carved stone post, Huddersfield Triangle design, erected by Huddersfield & Penistone turnpike trust, 18th century. Old milestone
The 12 miles of road from Huddersfield to Penistone, now A629, was first enacted to become a tollroad in 1777. Six stone milestones remain. This route was not considered important enough to have the new WRCC milestones in 1893/94. This stone is on Dogley Lane, 100m north of the junction with Far Dean, signed Highburton.
