Slaithwaite or Hill Top Reservoir, Slaithwaite
Water level is well below the overflow. The view is from a footbridge over the spillway. Old maps show the outfall feeding mill ponds and mills before passing under the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to join the River Colne, which in turn powered mills. Current information about the reservoir relates to angling, notably for pike. Upper Mills, Slaithwaite
Operated by Elon Crowther & Sons when I used to visit to see the site's two steam engines and water turbine Image Image Image This is one of very few exteriors I possess and was taken during a walk along the Yorkshire end of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal (blisters cut this slightly short).
