Wuzzing holes,Golcar
A leftover from the domestic woollen industry. Apparently wet cloth would be placed in a basket with holes and tied to a pole so that when the tip of the pole was placed in one of the holes the other end could be moved in a circle to spin the basket of cloth rapidly round and act as a primitive spin drier - wuzzing (true or bluff?). This is round the back of the Colne Valley Museum and a board at the front explains both wuzzing holes and tenter posts.
