Common End Farm, Woolrow Lane
The old course of Woolrow Lane runs along the top of the bank on the other side of the makeshift fence shown in the picture. The public footpath was rerouted by the council slightly downhill to the west in 2003 after part of the road and the adjoining wall collapsed.

Birkdale Farmhouse is a mid-17C Grade II listed house with two attached cottages. The photo shows the back, which faces the road. The front can be seen here: http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/images/33/87/L338772.jpg The windows have stone mullions between the small panes. The ground floor windows of the front also have transoms, ie like a mullion but horizontal and dividing the windows into eight panes.
