Birkdale Farmhouse is a mid-17C Grade II listed house with two attached cottages. The photo shows the back, which faces the road. The front can be seen here: http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/images/33/87/L338772.jpg The windows have stone mullions between the small panes. The ground floor windows of the front also have transoms, ie like a mullion but horizontal and dividing the windows into eight panes.
