South Lodge, Rastrick Common, Rastrick
This house was built in 1879, but uses much material from a house of 1659 in Birds Royd, which was demolished for an extension to the railway sidings. Notable features are a row of carved rings along the side wall to the right of the photo, and the small stepped windows facing the road, to the right of the chimney. The road junction is the southern end of Rastrick Common. The old main road turns right up Ogden Lane, and Toothill Bank climbs up to the left. The pub is appropriately called 'The Junction'.

Converted stable, Rastrick Common, Rastrick
This was the stable for the 18C house to the left. It has a central cart flanked by round-headed windows (there is one out-of-sight to the left according to the English Heritage listing, which also mentioned the bullseye windows and a Venetian window in a small central gable at the rear).

Houses under construction, Ogden Lane / Rastrick Common, Rzastrick
There were buildings here in the early 20C, cleared by 1933, and the site has remained empty ever since. To the left there was a smithy that specialised in tools for dressing stone, but also did wrought-iron work such as the weather vane for St Matthew's Church. On one occasion they were flooded from the culverted stream that runs through the site, so I hope this has been checked to make sure it is clear and in good condition.
