The Railway Bridge View apartment block see from George Street, Rastrick
There are some strange triangular projections from the walls of the apartment block. George Street is very steep, and I brought with me a foot ruler, spirit level and tape measure and found that the rise over 31cm is 9cm. This measurement was not precise; the 9cm is plus or minus 1 or 2mm, but the gradient seems to be about 1 in 3.4 or 29%. I doubt many of the residents in the apartments use George Street as a short cut to their car park.

The site has been waiting a long time -

Excavation in progress for a new apartment block, Bramston Street, Rastrick
Part of this site was occupied by a Card Works back in 1893, and later by Salford Works, which was redeveloped as Salford Works and was last occupied by electrical contractors. This building had been demolished by 2006, but amazingly Robinson Mech-Elec Limited are still listed at this address in the Cyclex website!
Now 65 apartments for old people including those with dementia are being constructed. I was rather surprised that the building will be seven storeys here at the bottom of the hill, four storeys at the top. I was also surprised at the depth of soil, expecting there to be rock.

Apartment block under construction, Bramston Street, Rastrick
"The £11.3 million project will see Home Group, one of the UK’s largest providers of homes for sale and affordable rent, join forces with Calderdale Council, Leeds-based architect Brewster Bye and energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE, to construct 65 extra care apartments with some facilities specially designed for residents with dementia.
The development, which will be built on vacant land off Bramston Street, will include the construction of a new split level seven-storey apartment block, creating affordable new homes for the over-55s and additional support facilities including a hair salon, coffee shop and winter garden." (copied from the Home Group website)
At the time I did not notice what appears to be a man on an extremely high 'cherry picker' platform.
