Just as they were about to open the ban on cafés and restaurants took effect. I shall have to go there for coffee and cake when they eventually open!

New retail unit, Lawson Road, Brighouse
This is on the site of the former police station, although there has been a petrol station here in between. It would make a nice café, except that there are already several little cafés in the town.
Update: It is now a coffee bar.

The former Co-op Department Store, King Street, Brighouse
This closed down towards the end of 2005. The extension on the right had already been let to Peacocks clothes shop, and the supermarket out of sight to the left became Mackays clothes shop. The Peacocks building has rather nice arches with decorated tympanums over the first-floor windows. The car park is on the site of a Methodist chapel.
