Take-away shops, Briggate
Hartleys bakers, on the corner, has been there for a long time. The two other units, currently Romano Pizzeria and Funky Moos, have often changed hands. I wish them luck, but parking is a problem with double yellow lines in front and a pay car park behind. However the latter is, I think, still free in the evening when take-away shops do much of their trading.

Daisy Street, Brighouse
This street went through to Briggate in line with Mill Royd Street. All the buildings were demolished and the area was turned into a car park, with just this short length of street remaining. The fence across it prevents traffic from using the street and car park to avoid the jams at the Mill Royd Street junction, where traffic turning right blocks traffic continuing on the main road.

Briggate, Brighouse
The building on the left was, I think, a public house at one time and is now apartments. It has been refurbished recently. Further on there is a row of three shops. On the right is the garage for Arrow Coach Travel. Behind are the former grain silos now used by ROKT as climbing towers.

Disused Silos, off Briggate, Brighouse
These were part of Sugden's Flour Mills and are a landmark that will be missed when the area is redeveloped. Hopefully the Black Swan will survive.

Canal at Briggate, Brighouse
Here a pleasant garden has been made beside the canal. The towpath is on the other side, alongside the market, which has four murals to brighten its wall. The dignified building behind has shops on the ground floor.
