Roadside lifebelt, Crosland Factory Lane, South Crosland
I expected to find a pond behind this lifebelt. but there is only a little stream. It is near to a modern housing estate, so I suppose it was a required in order to get planning permission, but I can't recall seeing anything similar elsewhere.

Picnic area on former railway sidings, south Crosland
This was probably made in the hope that the disused Meltham Branch will eventually be made into a greenway all the way from Netherton to Meltham. The Meltham end was made several years ago.

Crosland Factory, South Crosland
This was Crosland Mills in 1850, but at some stage the name was altered to 'factory'. Not much of the 19C buildings remain, and the appearance is of a modern industrial estate surrounded by countryside.

Crosland Factory, South Crosland
Part of the old mill buildings. I suspect that upper floors and the original pitched roof have been removed. Perhaps there was a fire? The 'ghost' of a saw-tooth roof can be seen on the wall.

The ex Meltham Branch Line (2)
The former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Meltham Branch crossed Crosland Factory Lane in South Crosland on what appears to have an arch bridge. A significant flow of water is coursing down the road following a morning of sharp rain showers.

The former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, Meltham Branch, South Crosland
Beyond the picnic area in Image] the tarmac path continues to a railway bridge, which crosses the public footpath. The farmer has apparently attempted to block access to the disused railway. but it is possible to get over the bridge and turn left down a slanting track to join the public footpath.
