Old hedge at Bank End, Netherton (South Crosland)
There was a small enclosure here, which seems unlikely to have been a garden but might have been to keep a small number of livestock in. Now most of the boundary fence has gone and there is just this short length of overgrown hedge.

Four-storey houses, Bank End, Lea Lane, Netherton (South Crosland)
This block is a listed building, and the description states that it was originally "three identical large weaver's houses. Early to mid C19." They are shown on the six-inch map of 1850. According to the current large-scale OS map the upper two floors at each end are now separate dwellings with access from the higher ground at the back.

Three-storey houses, Bank End, Lea Lane, Netherton (South Crosland)
These look later than the four-storey houses to the left, with wider window lights, but still with flush surrounds and with lintels part of a string course extending the full width of the block. They are shown on the six-inch map of 1850.

This is the lower of the three tall blocks of houses at Bank End. The windows have flush surrounds and stone mullions, typical of the late 18C or early 19C.

View from Bank End, Netherton (South Crosland)
This shows the path across the fields that might have been used by inhabitants of houses in Bank End to go to work at Crosland Mills in the distance. It seems that these mills were later known as Crosland Factory.
