Formerly a standard type of signpost in the West Riding, but now seldom found in West Yorkshire. Unfortunately this one has lost its arrow, which should be in a triangular projection pointing to the right.

Guide Stone by the UC road, in parish of Kirkburton (Kirklees District), Stocksmoor, Cross Lane junction with Stocks Moor Road, next to wall post box.

Old guidestone
Looking down Cross Lane in Stocksmoor with the old guidepost next to the letterbox. The stone is inscribed on the front with a hand pointing to the right/ SHEPLEY. On the back lefthand face is what looks like a C but it is not known what that is for. The wall letterbox is GR(George V) cast by W Allen & Co. London.
