British Trolleybuses - Huddersfield
When the Salendine Nook Schools were built, Huddersfield Corporation was only operating trolleybuses, so a special terminus area for trolleybuses was built as part of the development. This was the only such provision in the British Isles. It was only used for a small number of journeys specifically for pupils at the Schools. The scene is little changed today; fashions have changed and the trees have grown, but the buildings are still there. Bungalows, New Hey Road A640, Salendine Nook, Quarmby
I suspect that these bungalows were built before the road was widened, and that the road scheme included the construction of the high retaining wall.

Footpath steps, New Hey Road A640, Salendine Nook, Quarmby
This footpath is relatively new – it is not shown on a six-inch map of the 1930s. It goes across a recreation ground and via a snicket into Goldington Avenue, and was perhaps provided as a short cut to a bus stop.
