Acton Flat Lane, Fixby
This lane has been blocked by the construction of the M62, and is now a factory yard although there are two houses (the red-brick ones), and the lane is still a 'dead-end' public footpath. There was a workhouse (shown on the 1850 OS map) where the cabins are on the right.

Acton Flat Lane, Fixby
– This led to Adkin Flats Colliery in the 19C (Adkin has become Acton over the years), but beyond the semi-detached houses it became a footpath by the mid-20C, and was then cut off by the M62. Now then road has been taken over by a factory, but a public footpath across the yard is still shown by the OS. In 1850 there was a workhouse on the right (east) side of the road.

Blackley New Road, Fixby
Taken from the Lindley Moor Road bridge. The design of this junction has proved to be quite inadequate. The traffic is queuing to enter a roundabout, and the queue backs up 2km along the inner lane of the motorway.

Lindley Moor Road, Ainley Top, Fixby
This was the main A643, and a turnpike road before that, but has now been bypassed due to the construction of a junction on the M62. The houses are typical mid-20C ribbon development, and are actually just over the boundary, in Elland.

St George's Avenue, Ainley Top, Elland
The houses on the right front onto Lindley Moor Road, which used to be the A643 before the M62 was constructed. It looks as if there was a requirement that the garages should be at the back so that access to them was not from the main road. The road on the left is St Anne's Avenue, one of a series of short estate roads on the north side of St George's Avenue.
