It is surprising to find a blocked-up Venetian window in a wall that appears to have been part of a demolished cottage.

Bungalows, West Street, Lindley-cum-Quarmby
These look rather like a modern version of almshouses, especially as old stonework frames the passage to the rear. There is another similar row of bungalows nearby, but without the old stonework.

The former village was along East Street and West Street, the road from Birkby to Longwood, but in the later 19C Lidget Street was developed as a shopping street.
