A view from Lindley Clock Tower. Unfortunately the growth of trees in the last century have rather spoilt the views from the tower in the other three directions.

The clock mechanism, Lindley Clock Tower
There is a clock face on all four walls of the tower, so the rotation from the clock is transmitted via gearwheels to all four faces.

Another view of Lindley Clock Tower
The tower was designed by Edgar Wood, a local architect who also built Banney Royd, off Halifax Road; Briar Court, Occupation Road, and several other buildings in the Huddersfield area. The style is influenced by Art Nouveau. The semi-circular projection contains the narrow spiral staircase. The tower is hollow between the entrance lobby and the viewing gallery beneath the clock mechanism.

Milestone, Lidget Street, Lindley
This stone is at the foot of Lindley Clock Tower. There are similar milestones on the radial roads out of Huddersfield. As Lidget Street is not a main road it would seem likely that the stones were on the tram routes, perhaps indicating fare stages.
