Old milepost
This metal milepost, the only one of its kind on the roads radiating from Huddersfield town centre, is on the A640, New Hey Road. It is where there should be a Huddersfield TO and FROM stone. The ram's head at the top of the post was the logo of Huddersfield Waterworks which appears on Huddersfield Waterwork Pipe markers. So it is thought that this was a replacement for the original stone that was broken during waterworks in the early 20C.
