Bridleway through coppiced hornbeams, Copse Wood, Ruislip
Looking west, with the A4180 road at the end of the track. These are mixed deciduous woods which have had oak trees for timber and hornbeams growing under them to keep the oaks straight. The hornbeams are coppiced about every 20 years to supply small timber and poles. The woods are a National Nature Reserve, managed by the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Ruislip: Copse Wood bridleway
At the time of uploading this image this was only the second photograph in this square. Yet the square is only 25 kilometres from the centre of London at TQ3080 with its current 1,622 images. So it seemed only right and proper to try to rephotograph the scene shown in David's First Geograph image in this square from January 2006. Seasonal differences apart, nothing seems to have changed.
