Ruislip: cottages on the north side of St Martin's churchyard
In the old Middlesex volume of Pevsner's 'The Buildings of England', he describes these as alms-houses. Seventy years later that still seems to be the case.
Here, at the back of the buildings, everything is peaceful. But they face on to the Eastcote High Road, where day-time traffic is pretty relentless.
