Stop! You've forgotten the Soap
A close up of the ghost sign seen in Image It's really quite a work of art and must have been very eye catching when it was new. Now partly covered by a building extension which obscures the name of the soap. Hustler? Rustler? Neither seem likely. Quite a bit of Photoshopping to bring back some of the colours, but I thought it deserved it.

Wealdstone High Street
Part of the older development around Harrow and Wealdstone Station, which pre dates the vast amount of 1930s development which covers most of the area. A nice ghost sign for soap is on the wall. For a closer look, see Image

In Memory
Harrow & Wealdstone station carries a memorial to 112 people who lost their lives here on 8th October 1952 in the second worst disaster to occur on the UK railway network. The 7:31 commuter service standing in the up fast platform with 800 passengers aboard was struck in the rear by the late Perth-Euston sleeper running at around 60mph which had passed a colour-light distant signal and two semaphore signals at danger in patchy fog. Although the area signals were immediately returned to danger by the signalman it was too late to prevent the 8am Euston-Liverpool from colliding with the wreckage of the initial accident at around 60mph. The reason for the Perth express passing the signals was never established as the driver was amongst those who died.
