Aldgate Bound
Looking in the direction of Central London from Harrow-on-the-Hill Station. The bridge in this view carries Station Road over the Metropolitan Line and also over the Chiltern Railways line to Marylebone Station. In common with many bridges crossing railway lines at stations, this one has a number of shops and cafes.
The train about to depart for Baker Street is made up of A60 stock, soon to be replaced along with the Circle and District line trains by the new S stock - giving a standard fleet across Transport for London's surface lines. Built by Cravens, the A60 stock entered service in 1961 and is currently the oldest type in service on the London Underground. These units are also the fastest being capable of 70mph - though they are currently limited to 50mph.
