'Oerlikon' electric train at Harrow and Wealdstone, Middlesex
These heavy electric trains, which were in use at this time on the services from Watford Junction to Euston and Broad Street, and also from Broad Street to Richmond, had electrical equipment by the Swiss firm of Oerlikon. They were both reliable and fast, but they caused considerable wear to the tracks, which were shared with London Transport's 'Bakerloo' tube trains. The Oerlikon trains were replaced during 1957-58 with more modern (but much less interesting) stock. These services still continue, nowadays using Class 313 trains.

Bakerloo train, Harrow and Wealdstone
This is the current northern terminus of Bakerloo services, the train is in the turn back siding between the running lines. The DC electric tracks continue to Watford, now used only by Overground trains, although Bakerloo trains have continued to there in the past.

H9 on Headstone Drive
London Sovereign DE82 on the anti-clockwise circular H9 route from Harrow Bus Station passes Harrow Crown Court. Buses routed in the clockwise direction form the H10 service. Headstone Drive was undergoing resurfacing work between this roundabout at Princes Drive and the junction with Walton Road. This was causing tailbacks to Harrow & Wealdstone Station and as far as the junction with Harrow View - goodness knows how bad it was in the rush hour!
