Source of the River Wey (North Branch)
This is one of the recognised sources of the River Wey at Alton, however the Wey has two branches which converge at Tilford. This North branch has other tributaries including the farther-reaching Caker Stream, while the South branch is widely agreed to start on Black Down south of Haslemere, but is also fed by streams emanating from near Hindhead, Nutcombe and Waggoners Wells.

Field by Will Hall Farm
Large cereal field on the downs at the edge of Alton. Note the old oasts at the farm - this was "Strong Country". The River Wey [North] rises very close to here.

Source of the River Wey
On the B3349 just north of its junction with a local road to Alton town centre. This is looking north-west with the setting sun having about 10 minutes to go on the western horizon. The water meadows here means that the actual source will vary depending on the amount of rainfall we have had. There is a culvert under the road (to the right) which becomes the actual river.
