South Lane Cemetery: gravestone of the last Rector of Buriton
In 1979 Buriton became a daughter church of Petersfield, the irony being that from the late 13th Century until 1886 St Peter's was a daughter church of Buriton. Norman's career took him from Whittlesford to Guildford, Cornwall and County Durham before twenty years as Secretary of the Church Mission Society. Buriton was his last post, 1974 until his retirement in 1979.

Buriton, on the Hangers Way.
Hanger is a local name for a steep downland hillside. Buriton has its own Buriton Hanger, on the South Downs scarp slope. Above is the village pond with village church behind it.
