Farnham Road Hospital
Farnham Road Hospital viewed from The Mount, with Guildford County School in front of it.
The hospital, designed by Edward Lower with advice from Florence Nightingale, was originally opened in 1866 as the Royal Surrey County Hospital, until this moved to its present site on Egerton Road in 1979. Following redevelopment in 2013-5, it is now a specialist mental health hospital. The main building is grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1029316.
Guildford County School moved here in 1906. Originally a girls' grammar school, it became a co-educational comprehensive school from 1977.
