A pub is reputed to have been on this site on London Road for some four centuries. Today's building is the Green Man, a former pub which was turned into a Harvester restaurant. Now it sits derelict, behind hoardings, after being bought by supermarket chain, Aldi. Now, planning permission is being sought for a supermarket development here, much to local residents' chagrin. In the foreground is the lot of MJA Motors.

To everyone's surprise, these shops at Burpham are still doing good business, despite (or perhaps because of) the opening of a Sainsbury's superstore less than a quarter of a mile away.

In addition to the Image, there are (left to right) a "One-way" sign, a bus shelter and bus stop, several black bollards at the edge of the pavement, a phone box, some bicycle stands, (the back of) traffic lights for the pedestrian crossing, the "Kingpost Parade" sign, another set of traffic lights for the pedestrian crossing, Burpham Community Noticeboard, another set of traffic lights for the pedestrian crossing (on the far side of London Road), Burpham Parish Church noticeboard, an 18" high grey box that appears to have some electrical function, a lamppost, (the back of) a "No right turn" sign (to those travelling north on London Road), and a "No Entry" sign (to London Road from this section of the Parade). This area has had a makeover since PL Chadwick took Image in March 2011. And the postbox has lost its pouch box.

Part of this parade of local shops, adjacent to London Road. Officially, according to Guildford Borough Council, they are Kingpost Parade, while the Royal Mail seem to think it is Kings Parade. Meanwhile many people know them as Burpham Parade. The good news is that the Council have some money to spend on environmental improvements in the area, and are currently consulting with local businesses and residents as to what should be done.

This is a brick residential flats development by Barratts, on London Road. Most in this first block are already sold. A second block is under construction behind this one.

The shop has won several awards for its fish and chips. Next door is a branch of the estate agents, Haart.

A rare sight due to the very short reign of Britain's King Edward VIII - this is one of 161 pillar boxes which carry his cypher. It stands beside the Kingpost Parade sign, London Road, Guildford. Note that the postbox has been crowned by local yarn bombers. The sign joins a crown (for Kingpost) and a cartwheel (for London Road) and wheel rolls along the road.
