Burpham - Kingpost Parade

A rare sight due to the very short reign of Britain's King Edward VIII - this is one of 161 pillar boxes which carry his cypher. It stands beside the Kingpost Parade sign, London Road, Guildford. Note that the postbox has been crowned by local yarn bombers. The sign joins a crown (for Kingpost) and a cartwheel (for London Road) and wheel rolls along the road. It was designed by Burrows Lea Forge in 2012. www.guildford.gov.uk
