Buildings by Lodgemore Mills, Stroud
An older range of buildings next to Lodgemore Mills. The building on the right looks like a small warehouse. I would appreciate any more history for this range of buildings.

Approaching Lodgemore Mills, Rodborough
The prominent stone built building is most probably a former warehouse with taking in doors and a metal framed crane on the gable end. The bridge crosses the Stroudwater Canal and has now been replaced with a movable bridge.

Crane on a building by Lodgemore Mills
This is probably a former warehouse adjoining what I have seen described as a stable block. The former taking in door now contains a window. It is nice to see the crane being conserved but yellow is possibly not a very authentic colour.

Buildings by Lodgemore Mills
Lodgemore Mills are still a working textile mill with buildings of various vintages. The closest stone building was probably a warehouse while I have seen the brick building beyond described as a stable block. They are now converted to dwellings.

Control panel - Lodgemoor Lane Lift Bridge
The control panel is used by boaters to raise and lower the lift bridge over the Stroudwater Navigation. The bridge was formerly a fixed structure but has been reinstated as an operational lift bridge as part of the canal restoration project.

Lodgemore Mills
Lodgemoore Mills is the last working wool manufacturing business in Stroud and produces green baize billiard cloth and tennis ball felt. These, along with "Stroudwater Red" cloth, once used for military uniforms (hence Red Coats) are products for which the area is famous. At the peak in the mid 1800s there were something in the order of 150 mills in the area.

Lodgemore Mills, Rodborough
This is one of the very few working textile mills in the south-west and specialises in green baize and tennis ball covers. Part of the older mill is seen on the right and is in stone while on the left is the edge of a more modern north light roof shed in brick. The road to the right leads past the mill pond to Fromehall Mills. This is a fascinating corner of the Stroud valleys and is best explored on foot as there are many nooks and crannies.

Lodgemoor Lane Lift Bridge, Stroudwater Navigation
Until the canal was abandoned a lift bridge was sited here adjacent to Lodgemoor Mill; this was replaced by a fixed structure. However, a lift bridge has now been reinstated as part of the restoration project.
