A long terrace begun in 1826 by William Jay, although it appears that only the two houses at the far end were built to his design. Completed in 1836. Grade II listed.

These two houses, numbers 44 and 45 Clarence Square are now flats and a hotel. Built in 1838 of stuccoed brick with fine detailing, under a concealed roof. Some original internal joinery remains. Clarence Square was named after the Duke of Clarence, who became William IV in 1830. Except for the uncrowned Edward VIII, Edward VII's reign was the shortest of the postbox era. He reigned from the death of Queen Victoria aged 81 on January 22nd 1901 until his death on May 6th 1910, aged 68.
