Dove Cottage, Saul
Viewed across High Street. Depicted above the doorway are two white doves, a symbol for peace.
Below the doves are two identical male figures wearing blue caps, red jackets and blue trousers,
an early to mid 19th century depiction of soldiers, a symbol for war. An indistinct year is inscribed between the doves and men, perhaps 1856, the year the Crimean War ended.

It's obviously a while since any petrol was sold here - when was the last time you saw four star on sale, especially at 74p a litre? - but this is still a thriving auto repair business. In the foreground is a second generation Vauxhall Cavalier, which are beginning to become quite rare nowadays.

Unusually for a red phone box, this one does not appear to have been converted into a library or a cake shop or a mini medical centre or any of the other imaginative uses old red phone boxes seem to be put to these days.

The mirror increases visibility of traffic for vehicle drivers approaching High Street from Passage Road. Turn left along High Street for Upper Framilode, or right for Frampton.
