Dating back to 1674 and possibly earlier. The pub features a well inside the bar which has fresh spring water flowing through it and is now covered with a glass plate. Grade II listed.

Laying down the law
A number of footpaths locally have these legal notices. The laws regarding dog fouling and livestock worrying are laid down firmly. The small print includes reference to farmers having the legal right to shoot dogs found out of control.
