The first floor of the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Gloucester. This first floor in the Eastgate Shopping Centre is now almost devoid of shops. The only reason I venture up here is to use the public toilets.

"Was built in 1864 by Thomas Fenn Addison in memory of Robert Raikes (1736 - 1811) who, together with Thomas Stock (both pioneers of the Sunday School movement) in 1780 started a Sunday School to teach poor children to read." - From information plaque. Hail Marcvs Cocceivs Nerva Avgvstvs!
The impressive statue in Southgate Street is in honour of Nerva, who went on to be Emperor from September 96AD – January 98. It was under his reign that Gloucester was founded - as an army recruitment centre - and known as 'Colonia Nerviana Glevensis'. This work was created by Anthony Stones and unveiled on 19th October, 2002.
