Loch Lomond Shores from Drumkinnon Tower
This lochside development is called Loch Lomond Shores, and seems designed mainly to appeal to tourists. The largest building, in the form of a long sweeping arc, is the retail crescent, which houses various shops. A separate building, just visible at the extreme right of the photo, with a puff of steam rising from it, is the National Park Gateway Centre. The photograph was taken on a very wet day from inside nearby Drumkinnon Tower: Image Compare Image, which was taken from outside (on the observation deck) on a better day.

Sea Life Loch Lomond Aquarium
The Loch Lomond Shores visitor centre and shopping complex lies just to the north of Balloch on the shores, as the name suggests, of Loch Lomond. It opened in 2002. The Drumkinnon Tower provides a welcome relief from the shopping mall behind it. Designed by one of Scotland's leading architects, David Page, the tower is meant to echo aspects of a medieval castle, albeit a circular one. It houses the Loch Lomond Aquarium Sea Life Centre. Attractions at the aquarium include touch pools, ray tanks and a tropical ocean tunnel. Its 26 displays contain mainly native Scottish species. Drumkinnon Tower also boasts a 350-seat cinema and a café.

The Bronze Otter
This sculpture created by Laurence Broderick was unveiled by HRH the Princess Royal on the 25th of April 2012 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lomond Shores. The sculpture is located in front of the Sea Life Centre and Ben Lomond can be seen in the distance on the right.

"Teko": otter statue at Loch Lomond Shores
This small statue of an otter is titled "Teko"; it was sculpted by Laurence Broderick. When this picture was taken, it had only recently been installed here at the Gathering (as the open area is called that lies between the Retail Crescent, the waterside, and Image). The plaque says: "This statue was unveiled by HRH The Princess Royal to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Loch Lomond Shores on 25th April 2012"; the official opening of the new Image was held on the same day.
