Forest road
A planted forest of mixed trees. This peaceful and natural looking scene hides the fact that beneath lies 10 years of rubbish from Glasgow, yes it was a landfill site but maybe some of the most exotic finds that may be dug up by archaeologists of the distant future is a tiger or two buried there by the keepers of the nearby and now closed Calderpark Zoo.

Webster's Pond
Named after the family who inhabited the then nearby Calderpark House up till about 1931. The pond is not natural, it appeared over a period of time after the closure of Calderbank Colliery and is the result of subsidence due to coal mining. The surrounds were considerably enhanced in the 1970s by Youth Opportunities work programmes [the famous 'Yoppers'] supervised by the nearby zoo staff in a bid to include it as part of that.

Calder Park

Calder Miln remains
These cut stones are all that remains of the mill dam on the haugh at Calderpark that raised the river level in order that water could be diverted along the lade to the mill.
