K6 telephone kiosk
This telephone kiosk on Townhead, Kirkintilloch seems to have only been in this position for the last three or four years, and doesn't appear to be operational as a phone box. All the glazing has been removed and the box is in the process of being repainted.
Manufacture of the ‘K6’ type telephone kiosks was begun at the Lion Foundry, in Kirkintilloch, during the mid-1930s.

This K6 telephone kiosk on Townhead has been repainted Image, re-glazed and graphics added to explain the link between the K6 boxes and Kirkintilloch (many were manufactured in the Lion Foundry in the town between the mid-1930s and 1984). The side panels feature embroideries which have been individually designed by members of the local community and the Kirkintilloch Embroiderers' Guild on the subject of 'Your Kirky'.
